Schneider TeSys GV Motor Circuit Breakers

The GV range is Schneider's motor-branch protection: a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker that provides overload and short-circuit protection and acts as the motor isolator. GV2 covers small and medium motors up to about 32 A with rotary or toggle actuators, and GV3 extends the same concept to roughly 65 A and above.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between GV2ME and GV2LE?

GV2ME is thermal-magnetic: it protects against both overload and short circuit. GV2LE is magnetic-only, giving short-circuit protection alone, and is used where a separate overload relay (or a drive) handles thermal protection.

Can a GV2 replace an MCB on a motor circuit?

For a motor branch, the GV2 is usually the better device: its magnetic trip is set for motor inrush and its thermal element is matched to motor heating, which a general-purpose MCB curve is not.
