ABB AF Contactors

The AF range is ABB's electronically controlled contactor line and the successor to the old A-line. Its defining feature is the wide-band coil: one AF contactor typically covers a broad control-voltage range instead of a single voltage, which cuts the number of variants a panel builder has to hold. We supply AF and AFC compact contactors across the range, plus AFS safety contactors with mirror contacts for safety circuits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an ABB A-line and an AF contactor?

The A-line used conventional coils wound for one voltage; AF uses an electronic coil covering a wide voltage band, with lower holding power and better tolerance of supply dips.

Can one AF contactor really work on 110 V and 230 V?

Yes, within its stated coil band. A coil coded for 100–250 V AC/DC will operate anywhere in that range, which is why AF contactors reduce stock variants. Always check the specific coil code on the reference.
