What to check before ordering

I/O modules require a matching terminal base; the module alone will not mount or wire.
CPU choice drives memory, ports and expansion limits — check the program size before downgrading.
XC variants are the extended-temperature/harsh-environment versions of standard modules, with different order codes.
Confirm the communication module matches the fieldbus actually installed, not the one in the original design.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AC500 XC module?

XC denotes the extended-environment version — wider temperature range, better resistance to vibration, humidity and corrosive atmospheres. Plants in cement, mining or coastal locations are often built with XC modules deliberately, so replace like for like.

Do I need the terminal base as well as the module?

Yes. AC500 I/O modules plug into terminal bases that carry the field wiring, and the base is a separate order code.
